Earthco Projects awarded Premier’s regional recognition award for sustainable roads 2014
Victorian-based company Earthco Projects has been awarded the Regional Recognition Award at the 2014 Premier’s Sustainability Awards for their work with local government building sustainable roads with PolyCom Stabilising Aid.
PolyCom is a road stabiliser manufactured by BioCentral Laboratories in Adelaide, and distributed by Earthco Projects in Victoria and NSW. It is used for the construction and maintenance of sealed and unsealed roads, road shoulders, airstrips and other pavements.
Technical Manager Maurice Serruto accepted the award on behalf of Earthco Projects. Serruto expressed gratitude to supporters, collaborators and councils who have enabled the increasing acceptance of PolyCom within the local government and civil sectors. “Well done to our customers who have the courage to use new products,” Serruto said. “Thank you to you all.”
Roads treated with PolyCom require less maintenance (for some councils, maintenance interventions are reduced by four to six times) resulting in reduced asset maintenance costs over time, and significant savings in the long term.
In its twelfth year, the Premier’s Sustainability Awards recognise and reward leadership in sustainability and celebrate the contribution businesses, institutions, communities and individuals make to a more liveable and sustainable Victoria.
The Regional Recognition Award is awarded to a regional finalist who has demonstrated notable sustainability benefits for regional Victoria.
“Congratulations to this year’s remarkable finalists and winners,” said Ryan Smith, Minister for Environment and Climate Change. “Their projects continue to deliver economic, environmental and social benefits and will inspire more organisations to become more innovative in their sustainability efforts”.
